HANOI, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Roughly 1.5 million vehicles in Vietnam were detected to over-speed in the first nine months of this year, the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam said on Wednesday.

In the nine-month period, transport departments of cities and provinces nationwide suspended operations of nearly 6,000 automobiles, mainly coaches and buses; and revoked transport business licenses of 10 enterprises.

The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has proposed relevant agencies and localities to intensify management over coach, bus and truck transport companies, partly by asking them to ensure smooth operation of black boxes on their vehicles to prevent traffic accidents.

A total of 15,411 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam between January and September, killing 6,440 people and injuring 13,473 others, the country's Traffic Police Department said.
