BANGKOK, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and 17 were wounded after a bomb hit a popular noodle stall at about 7 p.m. in southern Thailand.
The casualty is a 60-year old Thai woman, while two of the injured people suffered severe wounds, reported Thai media Khomchadluek citing police sources.
The noodle stall, which is in a local night market in downtown Pattani province, was full of customers before someone came in and dumped a paper bag, which exploded later.
This is the second time that the noodle stall is hit by a bomb, as the first one happened in 2007 which killed 1 person and wounded many, according to the police.
Local police also said they have strengthened security measures in the scene in case of another bomb.
Pattani, along with Yala and Narathiwat are the three southernmost provinces that were haunted by explosions as there is a a ethnic separatist insurgency, which killed more than 6,500 people in the past 12 years.
