ACCRA, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) here on Thursday conducted balloting positions for political parties contesting this year's parliamentary election in December.
In all, representatives of seven political parties picked positions for their candidates.
The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) is first on the ballot paper, followed by the Progressive People's Party (PPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
They are followed by the United Progressive Party (UPP), New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Party (NDP), and the Independent People's Party (IPP).
The EC was however unable to conduct balloting for candidates for the presidential election due to a number of legal suits brought against it.
This is the first time the EC has balloted for parliamentary positions on the ballot paper.
The West African country goes to the polls in December to elect a president and a 275-member legislative body. Enditem
