BANGKOK, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Eleven passengers were injured after a tour bus hit a tree and overturned in southern Thailand, local media reported Monday.
The accident took place at around 6 a.m. local time. The bus was shuttling from southern Thailand's famous tourist attraction Samui Island to one of the southernmost provinces Narathiwat. It slammed into a tree in the median strip and flipped one-side up on the road, injuring 11.
Local media Thairath reported that some of the injured were still trapped inside the bus when rescue teams arrived. They were later helped out and hospitalized.
The driver, aged 40, has admitted to police that he was a new hand and not so familiar with the route, where it became a curved road and he lost control of the bus.
