KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- A building in downtown Kuala Lumpur that hosts Bursa Malaysia, or the Malaysian Stock Exchange, was evacuated on Friday after the management office of the building received a bomb threat.
Bursa Malaysia said in a statement that it has notified the authorities about the threat, which was received at 12:01 p.m., and evacuated all tenants and staff in the building "as a precaution."
Video footage posted on social networking sites show that hundreds of people gathered outside the building with the police cordoning off the area.
A report from Oriental Daily estimated that more than 600 Bursa Malaysia staff and another 2,000 staff from Astro Awani, a satellite TV network and HSBC, work at the building.
The exchange said Business Continuity Plans have been activated. Stock quotes posted by its website at 14:31 showed that normal trading activity has resumed.
