SKOPJE, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) has given Macedonia 14 million euros (15.7 million U.S. dollars) for the management of the refugee crisis, EU Ambassador to Macedonia Samuel Zbogar told media in Macedonia on Friday.

"I got the impression that the EU assistance is sufficient, but as partners, we will always discuss further needs and continue to help Macedonia," Zbogar was quoted as saying.

The Macedonian authorities had requested the EU to help them in order to manage the situation after the refugees and migrants flow. Zbogar said that EU members reacted immediately to the Macedonian call for assistance.

Zbogar made the statement while visiting the center of reception/transit of refugees in Gevgelija in the southeast of Macedonia. According to him, EU funds in this center were used for food, transportation costs as well as procurement of required equipment for border monitoring and migrant registration.

Meantime, EU funds were also given to other institutions such as the Ministry of Interior for the procurement of 33 terrain vehicles, the Ministry of Health for first aid stations for migrants. Enditem
