BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Wednesday urged Communist Party of China (CPC) committees at all levels to strengthen and improve leadership over religious work.
Yu, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the remarks at a seminar for provincial officials on the united front work and religious affairs which ended Wednesday.
Officials should dig deep into doctrines in line with social harmony and progress, and favorable for the building of a healthy and civilized society; uphold the rule of law in dealing with religious work; and strive to achieve harmony within and among different religions as well as between the religious sector and the rest of the society, Yu said.
Yu underscored the necessity to support the development of religious groups by themselves, including development of a talent pool, and to guard against overseas infiltration.
