SINGAPORE, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 47.82 points, or 1.71 percent, to close at 2,851.74.
A total of 1.16 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 932.7 million Singapore dollars (687.3 million U.S. dollars).
Gainers outnumbered decliners 278 to 133, while 496 others finished unchanged.
The STI index lost 12.55 points, or 0.45 percent, to close at 2,803.92 on Sept. 2.
