TIRANA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Concerned about the high number of accidents and the level of death toll on Albanian roads, the country's traffic police Tuesday launched a campaign to raise awareness of road users, urging them to respect traffic regulations.
An initial awareness campaign was held on Tuesday at the cross border point of Morina in northern Albania and is set to continue throughout the country.
Leaflets will be distributed to vehicle drivers at cross border points as well as on national roads, asking them to respect the road code, police said.
Apart from that, the traffic police officers have stepped up road controls to check against violations. Totally, more than 2,000 administrative measures were imposed in the last 24 hours, according to police.
