PARIS, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Industry output in France fell 0.8 percent in June from a month earlier due to long strikes against labor reform, official data showed on Wednesday.

National statistics institute Insee said manufacturing activity declined by 1.2 percent over the same period.

France, one of the world's leading exporters of manufactured goods, saw the production of coke and refined petroleum goods shrink by 12.4 percent "because of the shutdown of a refinery and the blockade of several others in the beginning of June," the agency added.

French manufacturers produced 2.6 percent less computers, electrical and electronic goods, it added.

A 1.7 percent decrease was reported in transport equipment, though mining activities recorded a positive trend after growing by 1.9 percent.

For the second quarter of the year, the figures were also negative as industrial production was down 0.1 percent from the same period a year ago, with manufacturing output falling 0.2 percent. Enditem
