MANILA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Philippine shares closed 0.29 percent higher on Monday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 23.23 points to 7993.58. The all-share index went up by 16.75 points, or 0.35 percent, to 4757.70.
Trading volume reached 1.03 billion shares worth 6.98 billion pesos (148.64 million U.S. dollars).
There were 90 gainers, 100 losers while 53 stocks closed flat.
