TOKYO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares closed lower Tuesday morning, with market sentiment hurt by the yen's recent rise as well as weak U.S. stocks overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 113.30 points, or 0.68 percent, from Monday to 16,522.47.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 10.29 points, or 0.78 percent, to 1,311.54.
Decliners were led by mining, bank and nonferrous metal shares.
