ANKARA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday the National Intelligence Agency (MIT) and the General Staff should be under the control of the presidency, CNN Turk reported.
The MIT and the General Staff currently report to the prime minister's office.
The comments came after Turkey's Supreme Military Council (YAS) convened in Ankara on Thursday to discuss restructuring the country's military following a failed coup attempt on July 15.
Days earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the decisions of YAS will be shared with the public following the approval of President Erdogan.
Meanwhile, Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday the assets of 3,490 detained judges and prosecutors would be confiscated under the investigation of the Fethullahist Organization, local newspaper Haberturk reported.
The U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen is accused by Ankara of plotting the July 15 coup attempt.
