BUDAPEST, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Running on a track drenched by a cloudburst the Mercedes duo took 1st and 2nd places in the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying session at Hungaroring in Mogyorod, Hungary on Saturday.
This gives Nico Rosberg (Germany) whose time was time of 1:19.965 the coveted pole position on the inside of the front row. Teammate Lewis Hamilton (Britain), whose time was 1:20.108, will also start from the first row but from the less advantageous outside slot.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo (Australia) and Max Verstappen (Netherlands) were 3rd and 4th with 1:20.280 and 1:20.557.
Ferrari's Sebestian Vettel (Germany) was 5th with 1:20.874, Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz (Spain) was 6th with 1:21.131, and McLaren's Fernando Alonso (Spain) and Jenson Button (Britain) were 7th and 8th with 1:21.211 and 1:21.597 respectively.
Force India's Nico Hukenberg (Germany) was 9th with 1:21.823 and Williams' Valtteri Botas (Finland) was 10th with 1:22.182.
The Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on Sunday and a resurfaced track promised record-breaking speeds barring another cloudburst.
