WINDHOEK, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Namibia says it will review its national foreign policy on July 25 this year in line with the global changes.
International relations minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndeitwah made the announcement Thursday in Windhoek.
The review, the minister said, is to ensure that Namibia adopts and maintains a policy of non-alignment, promote international relation cooperation, peace and security as well as to foster respect for international law.
She said Namibia needs to prepare for the impacts of all the dynamic changes taking place at a national, regional and international level.
Namibia's foreign policy is guided by Article 96 of the Constitution and is further elaborated in the White Paper on Policy Management of Economic Diplomacy that was adopted in 2004.
"We live in a rapidly changing world, with evolving actors and competing national interest. This complex global environment requires that the government of Namibia be adaptable in order to meet social and economic aspirations of the Namibian people," Nandi-Ndeitwah said. Enditem
