ANKARA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's Education Ministry has started a plan to close 626 schools and institutions, days after a coup attempt, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 900 police officers were suspended from their duties in capital Ankara on charges of having links to the Gulen movement, accused of orchestrating the failed coup on Friday night.
Duties of thousands of civil servants at the prime minister's office, the Turkish parliament and various ministries were also suspended.
The Turkish ministries of energy and customs said they had sacked 484 employees. Enditem
