WINDHOEK, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Namibian government has condemned Thursday's deadly attack in Nice, France, describing them as heinous.
Media reports put the death toll in the Nice attack at 84, with hundreds others injured.
The attack happened during Thursday night's celebration of Bastille Day in the city. A French-Tunisian used a truck to mow down people.
This is the third attack on French in 18 months that claimed a lot of innocent lives.
In a statement on Friday, Namibia's Presidency said President Hage Geingob had sent a letter of condolences to his French counterpart Francois Hollande, assuring him that Namibia stands in solidarity with the people of France.
"May the French people be steadfast in their resolve, and not let this horrendous act of hatred put a black cloud over La fête nationale," Geingob said.
He described the attackers as "those whose main aim is to destroy the liberty, equality and fraternity which has made France one of the bastions of freedom and democracy in the world."
Geingob also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families that lost their loved ones. Enditem
