RABAT, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's security services arrested on Thursday six people with suspected links to the Islamic State (IS), the Moroccan Interior Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, the arrested people, from southern cities of Agadir, Amezmez, Chichaoua, Ait Melloul and Laqliaâ, had planned to secretly join IS branch in Libya.
Investigations also revealed that one of the suspects had lived in Libya and another was preparing a homemade explosive device in order to conduct a terrorist operation in Morocco.
The suspects will be brought to trial after the investigations finish under the competent public prosecutor's office, the same source noted.
Morocco is facing a growing threat from the IS. In May, the director of Morocco's Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation, Abdelhak El Khayam, revealed that Morocco has busted 29 terrorist cells that planned attacks against the country. Enditem
