TIANJIN, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Police in north China's Tianjin municipality said on Wednesday that they have detained nine people suspected of being responsible for a coach accident that killed 26 people earlier this month.
The accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. July 1, when a coach carrying 30 people broke the guardrail at the Baodi section of the Tianjin-Jixian expressway and fell into a ditch. Twenty-six people aboard died.
An investigation by the police finds that nine people at the Hebei Xingtai transportation group, the operator of the coach service, have slacked in their oversight of the coach service, which has altered its itinerary, and led to the deadly incident. Enditem
