HANOI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is expected to welcome some 4.706 million person-times of foreign visitors in the first half (H1) of 2016, up 21.3 percent year-on-year, according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Monday.
In June alone, the country is likely to receive 700,446 person-times of international tourists, down 7.5 percent over May and up 29.8 percent year-on-year.
During six-month period, Vietnamese tourism sector has also welcomed some 32.4 million person-times of domestic visitors.
The country's total tourism revenue in January-June period is estimated to hit around 200.339 trillion Vietnamese dong (over 8.98 billion U.S. dollars), up 22.1 percent year-on-year, said the administration on its website.
In 2016, Vietnam targets to welcome 8.5 million person-times of international tourists and 60 million person-times of domestic visitors. The country is set to earn 370 trillion Vietnamese dong (16.59 billion U.S. dollars) from tourism.
