HANOI, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Mekong countries including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam are sharing experience in land governance at the first "Mekong Region Land Forum" which opened in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Tuesday.
The forum aims to create an open space for dialogue and sharing of experience and lessons learned on key land governance issues as well as challenges that are affecting smallholder farmers, minority groups and women in the Mekong region, said a press release by the forum on Tuesday.
The forum would focus on discussion of land governance in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, as well as sharing of innovative experiences from China, the Philippines, Thailand and other countries in the region.
International perspectives brought by global land governance initiatives are also welcomed, said the press release.
During the three-day event, over 200 participants of government representatives, academia, civil society, private sector, development partners and international organizations are expected to join in nearly 20 specialized seminars on land governance and attraction of large-scale investment into agriculture.
