BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) have entered "the most critical stage" of exchanging "negative list" offers of sectors, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Friday.

The two countries have already exchanged updated offers and are conducting talks, MOC spokesperson Shen Danyang told a press briefing.

During the Eighth Round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue earlier this month, both sides agreed to speed up the negotiations and exchange new "negative list" offers in mid-June.

The "negative list" offers define sectors that will remain off-limits to each other's investments.
