聯合國環境署，又譯為聯合國環境規劃署，是聯合國專門負責環境規劃的常設部門。它的任務在于協調聯合國的環境計劃、幫助發展中國家實施利于環境保護的政策以及鼓勵可持續發展，促進有利環境保護的措施。它是在1972年6月的聯合國人類環境會議上決定設立的。聯合國環境署總部設在肯尼亞首都內羅畢。它有六個地區辦公室和在不同國家內設有國家辦公室。聯合國環境署目前執行主任阿希姆•施泰納于2006年上任。聯合國環境署是聯合國在環境問題上的全球性和地區性機構。其任務在于通過審查來不斷檢查全球性環境狀況，通過這個數據協調環境政策的發展，以及將緊急問題提向政府和國際社群。聯合國環境署的工作范圍包括地球大氣層、海洋和陸上生態係統。在設立國際環境協議的過程中它起了非常重要的作用。它促進環境科學和環境資訊，勾畫出能夠與實際政治結合的政策，它與國家政府和地區機構合作發展和實施環境政策，它也與非政府環境保護組織合作。聯合國環境署也主動資助和實施與環境有關的發展計劃。聯合國環境署的管理委員會由58個成員國組成，任期為三年。其位置由地理地區分配。這個管理委員會是聯合國環境項目最主要的政策制定者，在促進聯合國成員國之間就環境問題合作的過程中起外交作用。

United Nations Environment Program （UNEP） The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is an international organization that coordinates United Nations environmental activities, assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies and practices. It was founded as a result of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in June 1972 and has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. UNEP also has six regional offices and various country offices. UNEP's current Executive Director is Achim Steiner, who succeeded previous director Klaus Töpfer in 2006. Its activities cover a wide range of issues regarding the atmosphere, marine and terrestrial ecosystems, environmental governance and green economy. It has played a significant role in developing international environmental conventions, promoting environmental science and information and illustrating the way those can be implemented in conjunction with policy, working on the development and implementation of policy with national governments, regional institutions in conjunction with environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). UNEP has also been active in funding and implementing environment related development projects.
