MOSCOW, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A recent survey shows that 81.4 percent of Russians approved of President Vladimir Putin's work, RIA Novosti news agency reported Thursday.

According to the survey conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) between June 26 and July 2, Putin still came first in the trust rating for politicians, with 49.2 percent.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu came second in the trust rating, with 15.8 percent, while Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ranked third with 13.5 percent, added the survey.

During June 12-18, 84.6 percent of Russians surveyed said they approved of Putin's work, according to the survey.

VCIOM regularly conducts research in the domain of politics, the social sphere and business. It polls about 600 people from at least 80 Russian regions every day over the phone.
