LISBON, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Portugal slammed the chemical attack in Syria on Wednesday, saying it was "testimony of the extreme barbarism and conflict in the country".
Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that a profound investigation should be carried out after it was confirmed that a chemical attack was carried out in Syria's Idlib province.
Portugal also reiterated "the urgency to assure all humanitarian relief for the Syrian people and to reach an inclusive political solution for conflict", it said.
Over 70 people were killed and scores of others wounded in the attack in the rebel-held Idlib on Tuesday.
