PARIS, March 29 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande said in Jakarta on Wednesday that Brexit will be "economically painful for the British" as Brexit is "sentimentally painful" for Europeans, French press reported Wednesday.
Brexit will force Europe "to move forward probably with different speeds," Hollande said on the sidelines of a visit to Indonesia, according to the French newspaper Le Parisien.
The French head of state said the procedure of Brexit is "irreversible" and cannot exceed two years. Any "intermediate system" is excluded by him.
Britain officially launched a historic exit procedure from the European Union, nine months after a referendum resulting in the decision to leave the bloc.
