SOFIA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior has taken adequate measures to ensure order during the early parliamentary elections that will be held on Sunday, officials said Friday.

"The measures we have taken are adequate to ensure calmness during the elections," secretary general of the Ministry of Interior Georgi Arabadzhiev said at a press conference.

A total of 14,000 officers would be directly involved in guarding the 7,319 polling locations and 12,294 polling stations in the country, said Todor Grebenarov, deputy director of National Police.

There are no extraordinary security measures compared to previous elections, he added.

Asen Ignatov, deputy director of the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Chief Directorate, added that officers have inspected 7,217 objects related to the elections.

Minor violations of fire safety requirements were found in 782 of them, such as lack of fire extinguisher.

Ignatov added that his directorate could provide on Sunday 200 electric generators to supply power in case of electricity outages in buildings that are important for the conduct of elections.
