MADRID, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Interior Ministry on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of three people in two separate operations against jihadist terrorism.
Catalan police detained two men aged 26 and 27 respectively in the small town of Roda de Ter, close to Barcelona. The pair face charges of recruiting potential jihadist fighters, as well as using social network sites to publish pro-jihad propaganda.
Meanwhile the operation in Valencia saw members of the Spanish National Police detain a 45-year-old man, who was born in Morocco, but of Spanish nationality.
He is accused of using the internet in order to praise terrorist attacks committed by the Islamic State (IS) in Europe, Syria and other countries, as well as publishing messages teaching combat techniques.
The detainee is described as being well integrated into the local Muslim community and the Interior Ministry insists that his use of social network sites to promote active terrorism meant he had become a "threat to public safety."
Wednesday's arrests bring the total number of jihadist suspects arrested in Spain to 195 since the country was placed on a level 4 (high) anti-terrorism alert in June 2015. Enditem
