Kyrgyzstan, Germany to develop cooperation in energy, agriculture

BISHKEK, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan and Germany are interested in developing cooperation, in areas including energy and agriculture, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev said here on Wednesday.

Addressing the Kyrgyz-German forum "Agriculture, Energy and Innovation," Abulgaziev said that this forum is being held for the second time and is of great importance for the development of bilateral Kyrgyz-German relations, the press service of the Kyrgyz government reported.

"This year we mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Germany. During this period of time, we managed to do a lot," he said, adding that a number of projects were implemented over the years of cooperation between the two countries, which both sides can be proud of.

The Kyrgyz official expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance from Germany in the fields of education, medicine, agriculture and energy. "The German side is rendering great assistance in the form of technical and grant assistance," he said.

Muhammetkaly Abulgaziev also said that Kyrgyzstan is ready to offer the German side a number of projects that can be implemented jointly with representatives of business circles of Germany taking into account Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union with the common market, where about 180 million people live.

At the forum, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and other state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic discussed with the members of the German delegation headed by the state secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy, Cooperation and Development Hans-Joachim Fuchtel the state and prospects of cooperation in the fields of energy, innovation and agriculture.
