VIENNA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- A victory for right-wing candidate Marine Le Pen in the upcoming French presidential election would spell the end of the European Union, former Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer claimed on Monday.
According to Austrian Press Agency report, Gusenbauer said should Le Pen see a victory, the EU will thereafter be made up only of Germany and countries connected to it, something that is "not good for the continent."
Conversely, a victory by social liberal candidate Emmanuel Macron could lead to a "new dynamic," with Gusenbauer believing him to be a "very, very committed European."
Gusenbauer added he does not believe a Le Pen victory will happen, but rather that "Macron and Europe" will prove triumphant.
