SINGAPORE, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Singapore officially launched landing pad for Australian startups on Monday to promote greater connectivity and network of contacts for entrepreneurs.

The landing pad is the latest initiative under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2015.

Speaking at the official opening of the Australian Landing Pad in Singapore, Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry(Industry) S Iswaran reinforced the strong and longstanding bilateral ties between Singapore and Australia.

He opined that Singapore offers a strong value proposition as a global partner for Australian startups.

"Through the landing pad, Australian entrepreneurs will have access to a network of contacts in Singapore and ASEAN, as well as in-market business development, investment, and mentorship opportunities," said the minister.

S Iswaran highlighted that international connections are critical to facilitating innovation and supporting Singapore's startup ecosystem.

He added that the landing pad contributes to the free flow and exchange of information and ideas between individuals, companies, institutions and countries that promote the flourish of innovation.

"The landing pad is yet another indicator of the strong and deepening bilateral ties between Singapore and Australia," he said.

Besides the launch, the Singapore's government is committed to nurturing the startup ecosystem through other policy measures.

It is enhancing EntrePass, the work visas for entrepreneurs from abroad and has recently boosted co-investment support for promising startups specializing in deep technology, such as medical technology, clean technology and advanced manufacturing and engineering.
