TOKYO, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks reversed earlier losses and made gains Monday morning, as hopes the U.S. Federal Reserve will hike its interest rates imminently, set the tone.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 37.40 points, or 0.19 percent, from Friday to 19,642.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 3.36 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,577.37.
Information and communication, air transportation, and service-linked stocks comprised issues that notably advanced by the morning break.
