VIENNA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The Austrian government announced Tuesday it would provide 3 million euros (3.2 million U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to crisis-stricken countries South Sudan and Yemen.

A press release from the ministry of foreign affairs stated the money would come from Austria's Foreign Disaster Fund and could help a total of about 118,000 people.

Foreign affairs minister Sebastian Kurz noted that the funds would also assist in international efforts to stabilize the two troubled regions and help tackle the causes of people fleeing and migrating elsewhere.

Armed conflicts in both countries have led to some of the worst global humanitarian crises outside of the Syrian conflict, the statement said, and has created an acute emergency situation for the local populations, including an "extremely precarious food situation."
