HELSINKI, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Several candidates were disqualified from the upcoming municipal elections in Finland for racist and anti-Semitic comments, reported Finnish new agency STT on Friday.

Asmo Maanselka, secretary of the Christian Democratic Party, told STT that four candidates in Helsinki were recently removed from the party's campaign. In addition, some of candidates were under investigation in Turku, southwest city of Finland.

For example, one of the candidates published some racist views on her Facebook profile about current and historical issues.

The party said the disqualifications were due to the fact that those candidates' behavior breached the party's value.

Maanselka proposed an amendment of the electoral law, so that the parties could have a week time to clean out unsuitable candidates after nomination, according to STT.

Finland's municipal elections will be held in April to elect the councils in 297 municipalities of the country.
