BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Does love have a price? Some businessmen say it only costs a little to help you express it. Perhaps, however, a little bit more this year.

WeChat, China's leading instant messaging app, is raising the upper limit of each red packet, or gift money, to 520 yuan (about 75.6 U.S. dollars) on Valentine's Day.

Giving red packet through WeChat has become a popular holiday custom in recent years thanks to the development of e-pay system. The usual limit for WeChat's red packet is between 0.01 and 200 yuan.

The number "5-2-0" sounds like "wo-ai-ni" or "I love you" in Chinese and offers a convenient and explicit way of saying it.

WeChat users began to post screenshots of the special red packets they received early Tuesday morning.

WeChat did the same on May 20 last year, a day considered fit by young people for saying "I love you". According to data from WeChat, most packets were exchanged on 00:00, 05:20 and 13:14 on May 20 last year. The pronunciation of 1314 is similar to "for ever."

Many people also chose to send 0.52 yuan, 5.20 yuan or 13.14 yuan, according to WeChat.

E-commerce giant Alibaba's Alipay also presented an insurance for lovers: Invest 99 yuan and get 1,999 in return if you could get married with the person on your insurance policy after three years.

Over 10,000 users have ordered the service in the Alipay app.
