Out of the total, the equity investments amounted to 3.899 billion euros and inter-company lending recorded a net value of 182 million euros, according to the statement.
Romania attracted over one billion euros more in 2016 than in 2015 when investments reached 3.035 billion euros, a record after 2009.
The final stock of foreign direct investments from 1991 to 2016 stood at 67.314 billion euros in the eastern European country.
The high-record level in terms of foreign direct investments was registered in 2008, almost 9.5 billion euro. Since then, the economic crisis has strongly affected the investment volume. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollar)
