SINGAPORE, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) - Singapore's Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong on Thursday reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and the Pacific Island States and Timor-Leste, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement.
Lee made the remarks during a joint call with participants of the High-Level Study Visit from the Pacific Island States and Timor-Leste.
The ministry said issues of common interest, including climate change and sustainable development were discussed at the meeting.
Lee emphasized Singapore's commitment to continuing support for the development agendas of the Pacific Island States and Timor-Leste, and welcomed their officials to participate in Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) capacity-building programs, the statement added.
This is the second run of the Study Visit following the inaugural Singapore-Pacific Ministerial Study Visit held in 2012. Participants include President of Nauru Baron Waqa, Prime Minister of the Cook Islands Henry Puna, Prime Minister of Samoa Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi, and Prime Minister of Tonga Samuela Akilisi Pohiva.
