BERLIN, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- German industrial production dropped sharply in the last month of 2016, official data showed on Tuesday.

Compared with the previous month, the industrial production decreased by 3.0 percent after seasonal, working-day and price adjustment, said German federal statistics office Destatis.

In October and November 2016, the production rose slightly by 0.5 percent each.

"Across the whole fourth quarter, production remained almost unchanged, at -0.1 percent compared with the third quarter," German Economy Ministry commented in a statement.

However, the ministry said that new factory and construction orders, as well as the mood indicators in these economic sectors signal a revival of production growth in the coming months.

On Monday, Destatis reported that German factory orders increased by 5.2 percent in December 2016 than the previous month thanks to domestic demand and foreign demand from the eurozone. Enditem
