BANGKOK, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is looking into allegations that British engineering giant Rolls-Royce had paid bribed state-owned oil firm PTT,
NACC president Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit confirmed on Friday he had assigned the anti-graft agency to promptly find out the facts behind some 10.7 million U.S. dollars in the alleged kickback to PTT.
Information pertaining to the Rolls-Royce bribery allegations against PTT had been provided by the United States' Department of Justice, Watcharapol said.
Though there will be no time frame for the NACC to investigate the alleged case against PTT, the officials in charge will certainly work in prompt fashion, he said.
The kickback scandal against PTT followed Thursday's decision of the NACC to investigate allegations that Rolls-Royce had paid some 34.8 million U.S. dollars in bribery to Thai Airways International in exchange for the airline's purchase of its aircraft engines between 1991 and 2005.
Watcharapol said the Rolls-Royce bribery allegations against the Thai airline firm had been obtained from by the United Kingdom's Serious Fraud Office.
He admitted that some of the alleged cases against Thai Airways could not be lodged in court beyond the 20-year legal age but others might remain for legal action.
