HO CHI MINH CITY, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 682.57 points on Monday, up 2.77 points, or 0.41 percent, against last Friday's closing session.
About 101.402 million shares worth 2.608 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (117.67 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 124 stocks went up, 119 stocks fell down, while 48 stocks remained unchanged.
VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 638.4 points, up 2.6 points, or 0.32 percent.
A total of 55.054 million shares worth 1.440 trillion VND (65 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday.
