BUCHAREST, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Romania's new Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu and his Cabinet were sworn in at a ceremony here on Wednesday.

"From this moment, you're the Romanian Government. You have a tough mission, you have to fulfill complex promises," Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said after the ceremony.

"You have to deliver what was promised in the election campaign," said Iohannis. He urged the cabinet at the same time to responsibly manage the national economy, as well as the public finances.

The new government won the vote of confidence in the parliament before the swearing-in ceremony. Of the members of parliament who voted, 295 voted yes and 133 voted no. The votes were nearly 30 percent more than the required simple majority.

The new prime minister will hold the first government meeting later Wednesday.

Grindeanu's cabinet has two deputy prime ministers, 24 ministers and two ministers-delegate, with the two deputy prime ministers also holding posts of minister.

In Romania's general elections last month, the Social Democrats won more than 45 percent of the votes. Together with the Alliance of Democrats and Liberals, it has an outright majority of 250 seats in the 465-member parliament.
