HANOI, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- As many as 79 Vietnamese were killed in 93 traffic accidents nationwide over the three-day New Year holiday, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee on Tuesday.
The committee said the accidents also left 54 others injured from Saturday to Monday.
Meanwhile, local police have handled nearly 9,600 traffic violations with a total fine of over 8 billion Vietnamese dong (358,744 U.S. dollars). Other 520 driving licenses have been withdrawn while some 80 autos and 1,200 motorbikes were taken into custody.
