HO CHI MINH CITY, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- All hydrofoils used to transport people between Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau City stopped operating from Sunday.
Four high-speed hydrofoils, run by two companies, are no longer in service because they have expired, the firms said, noting that the hydrofoils have operated for over 20 years.
The two companies said fewer passengers had used hydrofoils to travel between Ho Chi Minh City and the neighboring beach tourism city of Vung Tau in Ba Ria Vung Tau province.
After a fatal hydrofoil accident in 2014, the number of hydrofoils on the Ho Chi Minh City-Vung Tau City route fell to four from 14.
