BiH Presidency Chairman expresses condolences over Berlin attack

SARAJEVO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency Chairman Mladen Ivanic on Tuesday sent a letter of condolence to German President Joachim Gauck, conveying his country's deepest condolences over the attack in Berlin.

"We were deeply shaken by the news of the latest attack in Berlin. We strongly condemn this act of brutal violence which constitutes as a serious attack on the democratic principles and the safety of citizens," the letter read.

"On behalf of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and myself, I extend my deepest condolences to you and your people," Ivanic wrote.

A truck ploughed into the Christmas market crowd in the heart of Berlin on Monday, killing 12 people and injuring 48.
