LUSAKA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's biggest brewer on Monday announced a reduction in the retail prices of beer in the run-up to the festive season.
Zambia Breweries said it decided to reduce the price of beer in recognition of the current tough economic climate for its customers.
"We have dropped the price of beer as a summertime promotion. We do recognize the tough times people are going through and as we are now in the festive period, we thought we should reduce the prices of the beers as a Christmas and New Year present to our valued customers," Annabelle Degroot, the company's managing director said in a statement.
According to the new prices, the retail price of its Castle, Mosi and Carling Black Label 750 ml packs will be 10 Zambian Kwacha (about 1 U.S. dollar) from 12 Kwacha while Eagle Lager 750 ml pack will be sold for 6 Kwacha from the previous 8 Kwacha.
She has however cautioned people against irresponsible drinking during the festive season and to avoid driving while drunk. Enditem
