TOKYO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower on Friday as investors sought to lock in gains helped by a rise in the previous day with the Nikkei index ending at its highest level this year.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average declined 49.70 points, or 0.27 percent, from Thursday to 18,463.42.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 0.64 points, or 0.04 percent, to 1,482.63.
Decliners were led by rubber products, metal products and fishery, agricultural and forestry issues.
