VIENTIANE, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- An annual event designed to promote tourism linkages within the central localities of Laos will be held in central Vientiane Province next month, the state-run news agency KPL reported on Monday.

The event, to be held on Dec. 10-16, will feature parades, traditional performances, Lao food festival, singing contest, boat racing, traditional fashion show, and traditional sport competitions along with a trade fair showcasing products from the capital of Vientiane and provinces of Vientiane, Bolikhamxay, Khammuane, Xaysomboun and Savannakhet.

More than 3,000 visitors are expected to attend the week-long festival, which aims to promote tourist sites, culture, the livelihoods of minorities and wonders of the central provinces to both domestic and foreign visitors, KPL quoted Vientiane Provincial Governor Bounsone Phetlavan as saying.

The event will also promote locally made products and encourage tourism-related businesses in the six provinces to take part in environmental conservation, the preservation of socio-culture heritage and integration of local tourism market into the regional and international tourism industry, he said.

The Southeast Asian country sets to earn an income of 700 million U.S. dollars from tourism in 2016, higher than the revenue of 650 million U.S. dollars in 2015.
