Vietnam's southern stock market ends down

HO CHI MINH CITY, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 673.25 points on Friday, down 1.32 points, or 0.2 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 104.889 million shares worth 2.210 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (99.96 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 95 stocks went up, 144 stocks fell down, while 56 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 634.35 points, down 1.67 points, or 0.26 percent.

A total of 44.574 million shares worth 887.41 billion VND (40.13 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Friday.
