YANGON, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will export about 100,000 tons of pulses to India annually and a memorandum of understanding is being established with the northwestern neighbor for the export, official media reported Tuesday.
India has proposed to increase its demand for Myanmar's mung beans and pigeon peas by 25,000 tons per year starting in 2017.
However, the country's yield has declined since last year although the country produced over 600,000 tons of mung beans and over 200,000 tons of pigeon peas before.
The country exports about 240,000 tons of various pulses in average per year.
Myanmar pulses are mainly exported to India, followed by China, Indonesia, European Countries and Japan, according to the Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association. Enditem
