KIEV, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Heavy snowfall swept across Ukraine during the weekend, disrupting rail and road traffic and causing massive power outages in 15 out of 24 country's regions, authorities said Monday.
The blizzard that started overnight Sunday has created the drifts reaching up to 60 centimeters in certain areas of western, northern and central Ukraine, trapping more than 2,500 vehicles, the State Service for Emergencies said.
Trains running on 30 routes, including international, were delayed due to the snowfall. However, the air traffic was not affected by the poor weather conditions.
The blizzard has also caused power outages to 988 cities and villages across the country, with 537 of them remaining without electricity as of Monday evening.
The weather conditions in the East European country are forecasted to normalize by Tuesday. Enditem
